This week, I finally moved my website’s development to Git. Now I can manage my own changes to themes and plugins without having to worry about losing changes. Additionally, I was able to set up a development site on my local computer for testing changes before making them live.
The procedure I used is documented here. I have yet to flush out the specifics of the branching workflow that I will use, but everything regarding the configuration of the server, client, and development site is done.
Additionally, I am part way done the work on code.aidanmontare.net. You can see my progress with documenting everything at this page. code.aidanmontare.net will be the culmination of my ongoing work to have a simple, scalable method of distributing my projects on my website. I am currently still working on getting a new SSL certificate for the subdomain, but once that is done, I will have a working code repository on my server. Then I can finally get to sharing some of the projects I built this website for.
